The deadline for submission of titles and abstracts is Monday 5 October. All submissions will be taken

Symposium Topic:
Priority Rivers for Conservation of Southeastern Imperiled Fishes
We will provide a review of the background data on fish distribution to identify
the best three watersheds, Priority Rivers, in each of the thirteen southeastern
states based on fish diversity and numbers of imperiled fishes. Each presenter
will be asked to review their state's fish diversity and the imperilment status
of each species. This information will be utilized to determine which stream
systems (watersheds) currently harbor the highest levels of fish diversity
with the most imperiled taxa. These watersheds will be mapped for each state
along with the supporting fish and imperilment data. Information on the current
threats to these stream reaches along with efforts to correct the problem
will also be presented. Any efforts, ongoing or planned, to restore or improve
protection and restore habitat will be identified. If you are interested in
helping with this effort for your state, please contact Jim Williams (
fishwilliams@gmail.com)
so that he can get you in touch with the leader.

Meeting Accommodations:
Guntersville State Park is a very nice facility. It has a restaurant, lounge
and wireless internet service. It has motel rooms with outside entrances and
covered walkways to the conference facilities in the main building. We negotiated
a group rate on the rooms and lake side cottages located about a mile away down
the hill from the lodge (on the shore of the lake). When you call to make room
reservations
be sure to mention Group Code # 1222 to receive your discount
lodging rate. The discount (about 20 - 25 dollars off regular price)
applies to all rooms and cottages. To get this rate you will need to make reservations
no later than Monday 12 October (Columbus Day).
With the SFC Group Code 1222 the per night rates are:
- Lake side cottages - 2 Bedroom - 2 baths = 99$ plus tax
- Hotel/motel room - 2 queen size beds = 90$ plus tax
- RV hook up = 22$ plus tax
- Primitive Camping = 12$ plus tax
This is reasonable as it gets considering that they are really nice facilities. If you split the lodging it comes out (with tax) to a little over 50$ a night.
RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY OCTOBER 12 TO GET THIS RATE!
